Study Abroad Programme Stonehenge & Salisbury Trip, Saturday 21 March 2026

Study Abroad Programme Stonehenge & Salisbury Trip, Saturday 21 March 2026

£39.00

Description

See Neolithic Stonehenge and Medieval Salisbury

Detailed Description

Join us on Saturday 21 March to see these two important historical sites of the British Isles.

Stonehenge is one of the wonders of the world and the best-known prehistoric monument in Europe. Archaeologists believe that the stone circle, the centre of this World Heritage Site, was constructed around 4,500 years ago. With such a long history, the site has many different meanings to people today. You are able to explore the ancient landscape around the stone circle, and see how our Neolithic ancestors lived by stepping inside replica houses.

The medieval city of Salisbury will be our second stop of the day. The spectacular cathedral dates back to 1220, and has the tallest spire of any cathedral in the UK, standing at 123 metres/403 feet. The cathedral is also home to one of only 4 surviving copies of Magna Carta, issued in 1215 to prevent a civil war between King John and his powerful barons. The city is also the setting for streets and buildings dating back to medieval times.

The cost of the day will be £39, which includes all coach travel and entry to the Stonehenge World Heritage Site.

As you will be spending time outside, remember to wear comfortable shoes, bring a coat, and an umbrella in the event of rain.

This trip is for University of Reading Study Abroad Programme students, and invited University of Reading Malaysia mobility and transfer students, only. If you book a ticket and you are not one of these students, your booking will be cancelled, and you will be refunded.
